Problem Solving with TRIZ
The toughest problems require the contradiction to be defined correctly before more ideas are generated.
By systematically resolving technical and physical contradictions, we enable teams to generate stronger, original and feasible options.

The Changing Equation
As technical systems become more complex, the cost of trial and error grows.
Engineering and product development teams often face contradictions in which improving one feature worsens another. Traditional idea-generation methods may offer many options for these problems, but do not systematically indicate a solution direction.
While methods such as brainstorming and lateral thinking expand the idea space, TRIZ gives thinking a systematic direction by drawing on previous inventions and solution principles from different sectors. Following the principle of ‘don’t reinvent the wheel,’ we make the problem’s structure visible and explore new solution possibilities with existing resources.
We use TRIZ in universities, R&D centers and different company departments to develop products, processes and customer-focused services. Kaykayoğlu’s TRIZ training approach was recognized by WorldWide Business Review in 2017 as ‘Best TRIZ Education Management Company’.
Is this solution right for you?
- Who is it for?
- For R&D, engineering, production and product development teams, and technical problem owners.
- Which business need does it address?
- To resolve technical contradictions and develop options beyond familiar solutions.
- What changes?
- Teams define the problem through its functions, resources and contradictions, and use TRIZ tools to develop alternative solution directions.
- How is it measured?
- Contradiction and function analyses and solution options are reviewed. How they meet technical requirements is examined.
Direction-Setting Questions
Questions to ask before developing an inventive solution
- 01
Which feature in the system genuinely needs improvement?
- 02
What new problem or contradiction does the improvement create?
- 03
Which resources within the system have we not yet used?
- 04
How might other sectors have solved a similar contradiction?
- 05
Where can AI accelerate TRIZ analysis, and where is human judgment needed?
Kaykayoğlu Solution Areas
We apply the TRIZ system from problem definition to inventive solution development.
AI-Powered TRIZ
- AI can enable faster searches across patents, scientific publications and technical solution repositories.
- However, extensive output generated without identifying the right contradiction can obscure the problem further rather than improve solution quality.
- We combine TRIZ's systematic thinking structure with AI's capacity for research and making connections.
- While the human expert manages the problem's context and solution criteria, artificial intelligence helps explore alternative principles, similar systems and technology connections.

02TRIZ Capability Development
- We do not present TRIZ as standard training that simply explains concepts.
- Participants apply contradiction, ideality, resource and functional analysis, along with tools such as ISQ and operators, to their own work problems.
- We adapt examples to the working contexts of university, R&D, engineering and business teams.
- Our learning objective is to develop capabilities in creative thinking, innovative product and process design, and problem-solving focused on invention and intellectual property.
- Reinforces the tools with real examples.
- We help participants define problems differently, choose the appropriate TRIZ tool and apply what they learn in their daily work.
03Resolving Technical and Physical Contradictions
- We clarify technical contradictions in which improving one feature worsens another, and physical contradictions that require the same element to exist in two opposing states.
- Rather than managing problems through compromise, we explore solution directions that eliminate the contradiction.
- We apply the contradiction matrix, 40 inventive principles and separation principles to real technical problems.
- We enable teams to move beyond existing assumptions and draw on solution principles proven in different sectors.
04Function, Resource and Ideality Analysis
- We examine the system not as a list of parts, but as a network of useful and harmful functions.
- We reveal which relationship gives rise to the problem and which system resources remain unused.
- Using the ideal final result as our target, we explore how the solution can deliver greater benefits with fewer resources.
- We develop solution options that use the system's own elements rather than add unnecessary complexity.
05Patent and Design Workarounds
- We treat patents not merely as documents to protect, but as a research field rich in technical solution knowledge.
- We analyze the existing patent's scope of protection, core contradiction and solution principles.
- Using TRIZ tools, we develop non-infringing alternative solution directions and explore new patent opportunities.
- When needed, we work with technical experts and patent professionals to keep engineering decisions separate from legal assessments.
