AI-Native Lecturer: Using AI in Education
Designed for faculty at Kapadokya Üniversitesi, this two-level AI module brings AI into everyday academic practice through work on participants' own courses and research. The aim is not to teach tool use but to enable faculty to work in an AI Native way.

01 — What did the organization need?
At Kapadokya Üniversitesi, teaching staff used their established methods for lesson preparation, material creation, research and assessment. The need was to bring AI use into these academic processes as an ethical, practical competency.
02 — What change brought this need to light?
AI remained a tool used by a few enthusiastic academics at the university. The institution wanted to make it part of how the entire academic staff worked.
03 — Which questions did we explore?
How can AI move from a tool used by a few enthusiastic academics to a way of working for the entire academic staff?
04 — What process did we undertake together?
The program was structured as a two-level competency journey rather than a one-off tool demonstration. Across four days in person and one day online, each topic was addressed through participants’ own teaching materials, assignment and exam designs, and ongoing research.
The module delivered by Y. Bora Kaykayoğlu and Prof. Dr. C. Ruhi Kaykayoğlu preserved the academic context. Lesson preparation and research were treated as two uses of the same tools that require different responsibilities.
05 — What did teams start doing differently?
AI was defined not as a replacement for assignments and research but as a working partner that strengthens teaching and research while preserving academic ethics.
06 — What emerged at the end of the project?
Teaching materials, academic prompts and assessment approaches adapted to participants’ own courses. The two-level structure aimed to spread the learning within departments and carry it into the next term.
07 — What did we learn from this project?
If AI capability does not naturally appear in an academic's next class, it has not yet become an institutional capacity.
