AI-Native Lecturer: Using AI in Education
Designed for faculty at Kapadokya Üniversitesi, this two-level AI module brings AI into everyday academic practice through work on participants' own courses and research. The aim is not to teach tool use but to enable faculty to work in an AI Native way.

Inside the project
Focus
How can AI move beyond a tool used by a few enthusiastic academics and become a way of working for the entire faculty?
The first AI training module developed for Kapadokya Üniversitesi focused on enabling faculty to use AI thoughtfully in their teaching, research and assessment processes.
The approach was built around a two-level capability journey rather than a one-off introduction to tools. The first level established conceptual foundations and awareness, while the second applied that learning to real problems in courses, seminars and research.
The measure was not whether participants completed the training but whether they used AI as a different way of working in their teaching and research the next day.
If AI capability does not naturally appear in an academic's next class, it has not yet become an institutional capacity.
Scope
We worked with academic staff in a two-level module on using AI in everyday academic work. Using participants’ own courses and research as the starting point, we explored how AI could be applied to these activities.
Implementation
Every topic was explored through participants' own courses and research
Sessions were based not on generic examples but on participants' own course materials, assignment and exam designs, and ongoing research. Every topic was linked to a tangible output that could be put into practice immediately after training.
Every session clearly defined where AI cannot replace human judgment and where academic ethical boundaries begin. Use limited to individual habits becomes institutional capacity when it evolves into a shared working language at department level.
The journey we designed
- 01EXPLOREFaculty members' course preparation, material development, research and assessment processes were examined individually. Participants used their own courses to identify where AI could create real value.
- 02REFRAMEAI was defined not as a substitute for assignments and research but as a working partner that strengthens teaching and research while upholding academic ethics. The program's focus shifted from tool use to an institutional way of working.
- 03BRING IT INTO THE ORGANIZATIONCourse materials, academic prompts and assessment approaches were adapted to participants' own courses. The two-level structure aimed to spread learning within departments and carry it into the next semester.
