Problem-Solving Techniques in Innovation
The “Problem-Solving Techniques in Innovation” program held at Kastamonu Entegre on 24 June 2025 aimed to provide practical methods and perspectives to help participants effectively solve complex problems encountered in innovation processes. Led by Prof. Dr. C. Ruhi Kaykayoğlu, the training covered various techniques to support the development of creative, results-oriented solutions. 1. TRIZ (Teoriya Resheniya Izobretatelskikh Zadatch): Developed for systematic innovation and problem-solving, this theory encourages creative solutions through specific patterns and principles. 2. Root Cause Analysis: A structured approach to identifying the underlying causes of a problem, this technique aims to produce lasting solutions.

Inside the project
Focus
How can problem solving move from an individual skill to a team capability?
The 2025 Kastamonu Entegre project focused on addressing a training need through structured problem-solving practices.
The account of this project was structured around the organization's own definition of its needs.
There is no right solution to a wrongly defined problem. This is where problem-solving work begins.
Scope
We worked with participants from the organization on methods for tackling complex problems in innovation processes. We covered TRIZ patterns and principles for developing systematic, creative solutions, alongside Root Cause Analysis for examining the underlying causes of problems.
Implementation
HOW WAS STRUCTURED PROBLEM SOLVING USED IN THIS PROJECT?
Rather than rushing to solve a problem at first glance, we followed a process emphasizing root cause analysis and contradiction-based definition. Participants worked on their own operational problems.
Problem solving is not just a training topic but a practice that should be part of the organization's working culture.
The journey we designed
- 01EXPLOREA situation map was developed by considering the organization's real needs, current ways of working and external signals together.
- 02REFRAMEParticipants practiced creative problem solving and application through their own real work problems.
- 03BRING IT INTO THE ORGANIZATIONA follow-through plan was developed with teams to connect the methods learned to daily workflows.
Kaykayoğlu project insight
Problem-solving skill comes more from the team's method than from the individual's intelligence.
