Human-Centeredness with Technology
On 23-24 December 2021, Prof. Dr. C. Ruhi Kaykayoğlu and Y. Bora Kaykayoğlu delivered “Human-Centered Design with Technology Training” at Argemip, which is supported and promoted by the Ministry of Industry and Technology. Together with the participating companies' R&D managers, we examined the impact on product/service development processes of 30 technology fields expected to shape the next 10 years. A workshop using creative thinking methods was also held to explore the impact of these technologies on product-focused designs. We thank the participating companies once again. Inside the project
Focus
How can creativity move from an individual talent to an organizational capacity?
The Argemip project focused on connecting a workshop-based need with creative thinking practices. Participants worked within their own product and business contexts.
Creativity is not an innate trait but a way of working that grows under the right conditions. This project focused on establishing those conditions.
The bottleneck for creativity in organizations was usually not a lack of ideas but the absence of a working environment where ideas could be protected and developed.
Scope
We worked with R&D managers from participating organizations to examine how 30 technology fields expected to shape the next 10 years could affect product and service development. As part of the human-centered design training, we ran a workshop using creative thinking methods to explore the effects of these technologies on product design.
Implementation
HOW WERE CREATIVE TECHNIQUES USED IN THIS PROJECT?
We used creativity techniques not as showmanship but as tools teams tested on their own problems. Each technique was applied to a real product or process problem.
What brings creativity into an organization is not individual talent but a working environment where ideas can emerge safely.
The journey we designed
- 01EXPLOREA situation map was developed by considering the organization's real needs, current ways of working and external signals together.
- 02REFRAMEThroughout the workshop, teams worked collaboratively on their own problems. Each stage concluded with an output.
Kaykayoğlu project insight
